Recipe ingredients: 2 apples1 sweet pepper1 beetroot ½ lemons (peeled) ice

Beetroot is exceptional in assisting to rebuild red blood cells and prevent iron deficiencies (anaemia). The high levels of betacarotene in this juice help to mop up free radical damage which can otherwise cause a multitude of diseases in the body. Peppers are high in vitamins B and C and are also a good source of capsaicin, a natural painkiller thought to be beneficial for arthritic pain.

This juice contains fruit and vegetables from across the colour spectrum. In fact, the different phytochemicals and antioxidants in the fruits and vegetables give them their colour. According to the British Medical Journal, if you consume a range of produce from across the colour spectrum every day, you will receive the perfect cocktail of phytochemicals, vitamins and minerals.

Juice the apples, peppers, beetroot and lemon by packing the lemon between the other produce.

Pour over ice and enjoy.
